Soil-blocking is a seed-starting method that results in vigorous seedlings with roots that quickly reestablish growth upon transplanting. Soil-blocking reduces expense, waste, and storage issues associated with container seedling starting. This workshop will cover the creation of soil blocks, how to use them to start seedlings, and tips for transplanting your seedlings. Information on how to use recycled plastic, such as plastic deli containers or rotisserie chicken containers, to create a mini-greenhouse will also be provided. Participants will take home several blocks each at the end of the workshop.
